A Proud Wife of a Talented Husband!

As most of you know, when Lance and I were married, we had three houses between us.  Two are now rentals and we live in Lance's second house.  It was hard for me to really feel at "home" right away, since I had been living in my home for 6 years.  But, in the past year, Lance has worked SO HARD making "his house" "our home".  And now, it is definitely OUR HOME!
The one area I'm really proud of is our yard.  I'm going to try to show off the transition in the next set of pictures (I wish I had taken a few more...this is our backyard, which only a year ago was a MESS!  The lawn was torn apart due to drain field issues).  But, as I've learned quickly, Lance always has a plan.
Bringing in the Bird of Paradise.

Brant came over and helped Lance out a bit!  What fun for a 4 year old boy!
Successfully installed in the yard, now to prune it up.
Lance hard at work.
A view of the other half of our yard: Reclinata/Robellini Palm, a Canary Island Date Palm in the back corner, a few Ligustrum trees, fish tail palms.
View of the Bird of Paradise and the Bismarckia Palm, before grass.
Grass arrives.
Our wonderful neighbor, Alberto, joined in to help.  Lucia and Albertico helped as well!  You'd be surprised how heavy those little squares of grass are!
Still hard at work...
Finished product!
Beautiful!
He even left a little room for a garden.
But, a few weeks later, added the garden boxed in the side yard.
Looking forward to veggies in the spring!
And then, I went out of town for work...and came back to this:
We MUST put the new Zoysia grass in the front yard as well!  More pictures to follow of the front yard...plus one last view of the backyard!

Family Visit

One of the great perks of Elizabeth's job is being able to visit family and friends on the road at times.  This week, I was in Monticello, KY.  About a 3 1/2 drive from either Louisville or Cincinnati.  So, naturally, I went to both places!  Friday I had a visit to Louisville and had lunch with my Aunt and Gran, then beat Gran at RummieCube (2 games to 1) and then headed up to Northern Kentucky.  A big highlight of my weekend (and a lucky weekend to be here!) was to see Mia's dress rehearsal for her ice skating performance next week.  Wow!  She is quite the little skater!  See below...

Later that evening, we had an early Christmas (since Aunt Cissy won't be in town for Christmas...and they may be able to use their Christmas gifts tomorrow!!!)...
On your mark....
 Get set...

 GOOOOO!!!!

James decided to try it out the stairs!

Mia practiced her form on the coffee table...

Posing for a picture in front of the tree.

This is usually the only way to get them both smiling in a picture!  =)  LOVED MY TIME in Kentucky!!!

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog! As we type our first posting we are somewhere over California on our way to san francsico and napa to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. This year has been wonderful with ups and downs, turns and straight aways but we wouldn't trade it for anything!
My inspiration for this blog was a to continue on a previous blog I had when I was single traveling for work. (see www.whereslilnapes.blogspot.com) Now that we've entered a new chapter in our lives, we will start a new blog. I'm not a great writer, so I'll leave that to my other friends...but I love taking amateur photos and sharing our fun times. We hope you enjoy our adventures and a little taste of our world!
